Southern Hill Mynal
Gracula indica

The from of Hill Myna found in Sri Lanka and southwest India has been recently described as a 'good' species and split from reli-giosa into a new species Southern Hill Myna ( Gracula indica). In Sri Lanka, it is largely confined to the wet zone ascending to the mid hills. Its range overlaps with endemic Sri Lanka Myna (Gracula ptilogenys) where there is thicik forest. From the latter it is distinguished by the double pair of head wattles with one below the eye and the lack of black on the base of the bill. The call is a loud penetrating long-drawn Keeyu.
