Yellow-eared Bulbul
Pycnonotus penicillatus

(Endangered). Endemic. A common species in forests and gardens of the higher hills. An unmistakable bird with its prominent yellow ear-tufts. Found in pairs or in small flocks. Easily seen in bushes and low trees. Regularly seen in bird waves in the hills. Tangamalai Sancturary in Hputale, Hakgala Botanical Gardens, wooded sites in Nuwara Eliya and Horton Plains National Park are good places to seethis species. The flight call, uttered often while moving from bush to bush, is a loud, sweet, rather quick weet, wit-wit, wit-wit.
